Daniel Horsley

Deputy Manager at The Haven

Daniel started working in children’s residential care five years ago, supporting and helping children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

He holds a degree in psychology, level 3 diploma in Children’s Residential Care, level 2 award in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health and has a year of experience in volunteering for Childline.

Despite the challenges he faces everyday, working in this industry is very rewarding for Daniel. He always wanted to work with children and young people and being able to provide them support to progress in their life is something he really enjoys.

When he started working in this field, Daniel’s aim was to get experience in order to progress and have a career in psychology. Instead, Daniel ended up enjoying more and more of his job as time passed and decided to make it his career.

What motivates Daniel is building relations with the children and helping them deal with their everyday challenges. To him it’s all about supporting children and keeping them safe.

He enjoys hearing the positive comments coming from the parents, children and from Ofstedas that’s where he realises his work is having a positive impact on the children in his care.

Daniel is career driven and strives to do a good job for 5ab Care and the children in care at The Haven. One thing he appreciates about the organisation is that it is newly launched and new ideas are implemented, which means there’s always room for improvement.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, gaming and playing football.
